COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)

CBT is a kind of talk therapy that can be provided individually, in groups and sometimes within a family. The main focus of CBT is helping young people shift their thinking in order to change their emotions and/or behaviours. It is a very present-oriented treatment model and focusses mostly on trying to solve immediate problems. For this reason, CBT is often a short-term intervention.

I have training and extensive experience in using CBT with children for issues such as anxiety, mood problems, low self-esteem, troublesome behaviour and low motivation. There is a large body of research showing that CBT is very effective in improving the following issues:

ANXIETY

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER

INSOMNIA

ANGER AND AGGRESSION

CRIMINAL BEHAVIOURS

MOOD DISORDERS (DEPRESSION AND DYSTHYMIA)

GENERAL STRESS
